The Oscars - do you care?

*
I don't. I didn't watch. I haven't seen any of the films that were nominated and or won. I don't know who half the actresses are I'm about to show you. So in the interest of full disclosure, I wear jeans and some kind of top that covers up whatever I want to cover and New Balance or Airwalks every day. Every. Single. Day. I have no fashion authority what-so-ever that allows me to comment on what anyone else wears or how they wear it. So please enjoy my being catty. Well, sometimes I'm nice too, that's just not as fun.

Helen Mirren. I think she's lovely and almost always wears something beautiful and classy and and manages to be sexy every single time. I'm nice to her.

Charlize Theron. She confuses me. I would think that someone with such beauty would not want to ruin the simplicity of a classic style, with weird rosettes placed right on her bazumbas! What's THAT all about?
*

Deborah Ann Woll. I have no idea who she is, what film she was in, what she was nominated for or - IF she was nominated for that matter. Her dress isn't my favorite but what's worse - didn't she have a mirror or better yet, a good friend to say "That color does NOTHING for you." Is it something else? Just doesn't work for me.

Anna Kendrick. Again, someone I don't know, never heard of, never saw her film if she has one. But I just wanted to say I love her dress and I think she looks beautiful. No, that's it, nothing else. Except - the lacy ruffle on the slit does not even remind me of curtains.

Sandra Bullock. Who doesn't like Sandra Bullock? She's the all American girl, America's sweetheart. But did someone tell her she was supposed to be posing for a wax museum?

Wait, is this the wax replica - because I see no life in this figure at all!! My God Sandra, we hardly knew ye!

Carey Mulligan. Can someone tell me who she is and why I should know her? Never mind, I really don't care. I just think her hair is adorable. Not just anyone could pull that off.

And now the real reason I am doing this post. If I saw this picture, I would not have guessed who is was. I KNOW she doesn't have a movie because obviously she's been out of circulation for a while having some plastic surgery done!

Would you have known that was Demi Moore? She looks um .. different. Something Margo Kidder about her eyes now. And this picture below, what IS that on her face? Some kind of small rodent trying to escape from her cheek? *shudder*

Hey, if I had the money I have always said there are things I would nip and or tuck. But this woman is a bazillionaire. She has the money to get GOOD plastic surgery! What on earth?

Darwin Awards

Yes, it's that magical time of year again when the Darwin Awards are bestowed. Here is the glorious winner:

1. When his 38 caliber revolver failed to fire at his intended victim during a hold-up in Long Beach, California would-be robber James Elliot did something that can only inspire wonder. He peered down the barrel and tried the trigger again. This time it worked.

And now, the honorable mentions:

2. The chef at a hotel in Switzerland lost a finger in a meat cutting machine and submitted a claim to his insurance company. The company expecting negligence sent out one of its men to have a look for himself. He tried the machine and he also lost a finger. The chef's claim was approved.

3. A man who shoveled snow for an hour to clear a space for his car during a blizzard in Chicago returned with his vehicle to find a woman had taken the space. Understandably, he shot her.

4. After stopping for drinks at an illegal bar, a Zimbabwean bus driver found that the 20 mental patients he was supposed to be transporting from Harare to Bulawayo had escaped. Not wanting to admit his incompetence, the driver went to a nearby bus stop and offered everyone waiting there a free ride. He then delivered the passengers to the mental hospital, telling the staff that the patients were very excitable and prone to bizarre fantasies claiming they were not mad but had been picked up by the driver. The deception wasn't discovered for 3 days.

5. An American teenager was in the hospital recovering from serious head wounds received from an oncoming train. When asked how he received the injuries, the lad told police that he was simply trying to see how close he could get his head to a moving train before he was hit.

6. A man walked into a Louisiana Circle-K, put a $20 bill on the counter, and asked for change. When the clerk opened the cash drawer, the man pulled a gun and asked for all the cash in the register, which the clerk promptly provided. The man took the cash from the clerk and fled, leaving the $20 bill on the counter. The total amount of cash he got from the drawer... $15. [If someone points a gun at you and gives you money, is a crime committed?]

7. An Arkansas man wanted some beer pretty badly so he decided he'd throw a cinder block through a liquor store window, grab some booze and run. So he lifted the cinder block and heaved it over his head at the window. The cinder block hit the window, bounced back hitting the would-be thief on the head and knocking him unconscious. The liquor store window was made of Plexiglas. The whole event was caught on the stores CCTV.

8. As a female shopper left a New York store, a man grabbed her purse and ran. The clerk called 911 immediately, and the woman was able to give them a detailed description of the snatcher. Within minutes, the police apprehended the thief. They put him in the patrol car and drove him back to the store. The thief was then taken out of the car and told to stand there for a positive ID. To which he replied, "Yes, officer, that's her. That's the lady I stole the purse from."

9. The Ann Arbor News crime column reported that a man walked into a Burger King in Ypsilanti, Michigan at 5 A.M., flashed a gun, and demanded cash. The clerk turned him down because he said he couldn't open the cash register without a food order. When the man ordered onion rings, the clerk said that these weren't available for breakfast. The man, frustrated, walked away again. - THIS WAS AWARDED THE 5-STAR STUPIDITY AWARD WINNER

10. When a man attempted to siphon gasoline from a motor home parked on a Seattle street, he got much more than he bargained for. Police arrived at the scene to find a very sick man curled up next to a motor home near vomit and spilled sewage. A police spokesman said that the man had admitted to trying to steal gasoline, but he pushed his siphon hose into the motor home's sewage tank by mistake. The owner of the vehicle declined to press charges saying that it was the best laugh he'd ever had.

I am not worthy

Somehow when I have not been around, not posting – reading or commenting much I have managed to receive an award! And not only a sweet award, but from 2 different ladies who write beading blogs! I am so ashamed. Because this is what my bead room looks like right now. You would not believe what the floor in there looks like!

I’m glad the award is not based on my beading because I haven’t created anything new in at least a month if not more. I sold something this weekend in spite of myself because I have not been putting any effort into it at all while my bead room is slowly moving forward. Apparently this award is based on my sparkling personality and that’s so much better anyway, isn’t it? (am I hiding my shame well enough?)

The first wonderful and talented lady is Jo from Gem Heaven. She has so much talent when it comes to creating jewelry I would wear everything she creates. Every. Single. Piece. Seriously. Gorgeous jewelry with incredible handmade beads and beautiful silver! If you want to see what a true jewelry maker can do, please check her out. Thank you Jo!

The second lady to give me this award has a different type of beading blog. Her name is Pearl (yes really) and she writes The Beading Gem’s Journal. She teaches people how to bead, offers tutorials and really interesting articles on beads and techniques. I’ve learned from her and frequently bookmark her articles to go back to. God knows I can never absorb enough information on the subject! Thank you Pearl!

Both of these ladies bestowed upon me the You Make My Day Award! How fantastic is that? I appreciate it so much. I’ve met some terrific people through blogging and they never cease to amaze me. I am not worthy. *see me bowing down* Thank you Jo and Pearl! Truly.

There are rules and regulations and guidelines to follow when it comes to awards and I am afraid I am rebellious when it comes to these things. There are times when I follow all of the rules and times when I follow none. I think I am too tired to follow the rules right now. I apologize. Or not.
:) But believe me when I say -
you, ladies, have made MY day!!!

THANK YOU!!

Jingle all the way ...

As I'm sure you've noticed by now, I recently got a new design for my blog. I am very happy with it and just found out that Lara, the designer, is having a contest where you can win design elements for your own blog! Since I don't have any reason to win now, I am not following the rules required to enter. But I am posting the button for the contest because I am so pleased with Lara's work, besides the fact that she is simply a very sweet lady. Click on the button on my left sidebar to see some of Lara's other work, or click on the button below to see the contest rules and win some designs for your blog!

I hope some of you decide to enter, and good luck!

I have been very lucky lately it the awards department. I just received a lovely new badge from Holly at A Spiritual Dog Blog. The blog buddies badge! Holly knows full well that I am a cat person through and through but she and her small dog pack have won me over. Okay, I am still a cat person but I do enjoy seeing the pictures and hearing about Holly's dogs, especially Daisy the baby of the pack. What an adorable pooch! Thanks so much Holly!

I would like to pass this badge on to one more person who has given me an appreciation of dogs, Shelagh over at Cat Calls. She is certainly a cat person who recently adopted a huge black greyhound she named Alice. It's great to read about this dog being accepted (or not) by Shelagh's cats!
