Alternatives

This is part of my daily commute.  Coming home I make a right turn onto this road and pass a long line of cars and trucks going the other direction, all in line to turn left onto the street I just traveled.  In the morning, I avoid doing what these cars and trucks are doing by finding a different route.  Why don't they?

Yikes!  Wouldn't you?

  1. There's a nasty exit on the highway I use to commute, where people exit and then attempt to jump across three lanes of heavy rush-hour DC-area traffic to get to a left-hand turn lane at the next light.

Or they could go down one more exit, make a right-hand turn instead and boom, there you are at the shopping center that's the subject of all the pain and anguish. Craziness.

    1. Sometimes I think it's worth it to just let the GPS recalculate you into a different route!

  2. Our traffic is not that bad, but bad enough. I take less traveled back roads to work to avoid the crazy. I drove in it for years because I had not choice, but where I work now makes the drive much less stressful.

    1. My commutes over the years have been very minor - and actually the one I have now is not as bad as many I've heard of. Still - I just don't understand why people don't try to find another route. I was warned about that corner before I ever saw it - and I went a different way. Totally glad I did!!

  3. I noticed your Check engine light was on in the beginning of the video. I also think that driving distracted on a busy road like that is not good for the safety of others sharing that highway with you. Lets be careful out there. Remember the car to watch is the car behind the car in front of you.

    1. My check engine light IS on! And I know why, no biggie. If you notice there was very little traffic going the direction I was, but I totally agree about the distracted driving thing. I was careful, I promise. I wasn't looking at the phone while that was recording, just holding it while I rested it on the steering wheel.

  4. Glad that you are being careful. Don't want anything happening to the Babu.
